Women writers among you have probably already heard about She Writes new self-publishing press. What makes it different–and this is an idea I worked on in a project dubbed Chicago Public Press that we had trouble getting funded–is the vetting of manuscripts. It’s self-publishing, but not for every manuscript, so if you read a She Writes novel, you know there’s something to it. I like the idea a lot and am considering self publishing one of the nine novels I have in my drawer. If you’ve read CKH, I might ask you to vote on which one! (Watch this space!). And congratulations to the She Writes folks on this gutsy move.
